My father, Zbigniew Ryszard Grabowski’s “Aryan” papers made out to the name of “Zbigniew Szychowski”.

Description: My father, Zbigniew Ryszard Grabowski, was born as Ryszard Abrahamer in Krakow, Poland in 1927. During the Nazi occupation he went by the name, “Zbigniew Szychowski”. Between 1942-45, while in hiding in Warsaw, my father used these “Aryan” papers. His name after the war was Zbigniew Ryszard Grabowski. My paternal grandparents’ names were Jozue and Roma Abrahamer, but since 1942, went by the names, Joanna and Czesław Grabowski. 

Voyage to Ottawa: I brought them from Poland.

The ration card is made out to “Zbigniew Szychowski”, which was my father’s “Aryan” name between 1942-1944.

My father’s prison documents from Pabianice camp, dated January 1945. My father was held under his assumed identity “Zbihniew Szychowski” and treated as a Pole.

My grandmother’s “Aryan” papers made out in the name of Joanna Grabowska (dated 1943). Her real name was Roma Abrahamer.
